Transformation of an ugly duckling

Hola, look who’s ditching college’s shit and end up blogging instead! No regrets though since I need a getaway else I might break and explode due to frustration. Anyway, last week, I got my hair dyed for another time image I know how I said that I’ll wait til my hair grows as long as Enma Ai’s but seeing as I’m a very impatient cat – human being, I decided to “screw it, man. I miss my ginger hair, I’m gonna dye this square-shaped head again” so I did. At first, I bought a box of Japanese hair dye – Schwarzkopf’s Fresh Light featuring Blythe dolls – because I thought of dyeing myself since I succeeded doing that with Garnier’s black last time after getting bored of my old, Weasley-ginger hair. The color I wanted was vanilla beige:

Blythe dolls remind me of Bratz but Bratz is a lot creepier, in my opinion.

I couldn’t find vanilla beige though, so I end up buying the sweet apricot one. Unlike vanilla beige whose packaging comes off white, the sweet apricot comes in yellow for an elaboration between foam and cream-based hair dye. Besides, I think cream-based hair dye is a lot…neater or if not, better since you can separate your hair to strands and apply the hair dye equally. Perhaps it’s just me since I’ve never used foam dye, however, I must try it someday image I’m turning into a hair dye addict! Haha, danger alert to hair and money and parents, of course. Back to the topic, when I first saw the word “apricot”, I thought of orange-brown instead of ashy brown or deep, dark blond. But of course, it’s apricot and apricots are, well, orange in nature. Yet, when I saw the packaging, I thought it wouldn’t be exactly like my old Weasley-gingerish hair..

see the chart? Since my hair was black, I expected that kind of brownish-orange shade however…

…this was what I got. image

At first I thought it was because one box of dye wasn’t enough for me hence the result looked uneven. I thought of using lemon juice and the sun and even hydrogen peroxide to bring out the color but I chose not to. I’m afraid of hydrogen peroxide. To me, it’s a chemical far more reactive than your usual copper sulfate used in school laboratory for experiment so yes, the thought scares me. I even asked Gerry of Steam Bun for advice and she suggested I bought another dye, this time a color with ashy blond. I almost did that though but I was reluctant, again. What if my head turned green and orange and crazy corn-like? Uh, I like Mad Hatter but I don’t want to turn into him, at least not yet. You may think the hair dye looked sort of even but that’s what I thought too….until it turned horrible the next day; the top part of my head went all orange while another half went pure black.

Feeling like a giant lump of disaster, I then went to the salon.

Apparently, the evil culprit was that Garnier black dye I used last year! ヽ(o`皿′o)ノ Just a warning: never ever dye your hair black. If you’re bored of your color, dye it somewhere dark-ish but not black. Dark brown, blue-black, very very dark brown close to black..whatever. Just not black. I was told that black dye absorbs every other dye and that no matter how many boxes of Fresh Light I have, the color of my hair will never be even. Maybe it’s just me because I dyed it black last year – recently – but yeah, just a warning.. don’t dye your hair black.

So, the only solution left was:

bleach

B L E A C H aka “strip” (the black out of) my hair.

Actually, my hair had turned light after first time bleaching, however, since I aimed to have beige hair color, I was asked if it’s alright to get it bleached twice. I shrugged, saying I don’t mind at all because haha, my hair’s quite broken already in the first place so if I want to bleach it then why stop halfway image I didn’t take a picture after second time bleaching though. It’s pretty much like the one above, only lighter.

colors

  1. Beauty Mauve from Dariya Palty
  2. Tsubasa Masuwakaaaa! image ultimate gyaru motivator slash icon *is a fan*
  3. Not too familiar with her but she’s Ayuki, a Chinese model. That’s all I know.
  4. Tsubasa Masuwaka, again. Yeah she changes hair color too much haha plus, she’s Dariya Palty hair dye’s icon so.. image 27 and so gorgeous sobs

The four of them were the candidates for my option. I wanted the first one but it’s dark and well, I want to go bright-gyaru this time *tsubasa-influence ahem* so, nope. The second one has a combination of mahogany and pink or so it seems; I almost went for this but the salon ran out of pink or mahogany or both I don’t know. The third one’s pretty normal so I was like meh after staring at it. The 4th Tsubasa has blonde-beige hair image so I went for this one in the end.

comparison

  1. Fresh Light sweet apricot
  2. Salon-job. For some reason, it went gingerish-brown instead of ashy blonde-brown like Tsubasa’s? image I think it’s because I had the apricot a day before so..
  3. Salon done with flash light. Man, it looks orange! Lol but trust me, if you see me real time, it’s NOT orange. I refuse to acknowledge when people ask why it’s orange because IT’S NOT.  (✖╭╮✖)

I tried to tone down the orange-ish with shampoo not specifically made for color treated hair alongside the help of warm water. It helps though. My head doesn’t look like a swollen Japanese persimmon anymore. If only I can take a picture under better light to show its truest color. It frustrates me because it’s not orange. image

For those who never dyed their hair before and would like to DIY the process at home, feel free to. In fact, I do recommend the Fresh Light Japanese dye. It will work better on virgin hair image Hm, well, I’ve read reviews about the Dariya Palty dye being better than Fresh Light though I can’t put a judgment to that since Palty’s not available in here (。┰ω┰。) Besides Palty, I still want to try Liese / Prettia from KAO (same product, only different name).

In case you didn’t catch it beforehand, I’m into gyaru. Surprise? I don’t  understand why it should be. People need to stop thinking that just because I’d rather have someone teach me how to skateboard rather than fashion-walk doesn’t mean I’m completely not interested in style because I am, especially Japanese ones. I just happen to love gyaru (not those vibrant make ups on tan skin, they’re different type of gyaru. Google it.) the Tsubasa Masuwaka kind of way – I call it the modern gyaru for classification. Since it’s gonna be such a hassle to elaborate here, just google them haha.

Gyaru, as we all know (yes?), tend to play with eyeliner(s), eyelashes, blushes, lip color for make up and big, circle lenses for dolly-like appearance.

lens

My first contact lens ever, the Oxi-five2 from Omega Eyecare image

  1. Diameter: 14.5 mm
  2. Water content: 55-60%
  3. Color: blue
  4. Base curve: 8.6 mm
  5. Type: 6 months disposal

I can finally, finally, finally wear contact lens! I’ve always been scared of them since the thought of, um, something in your iris is just so…. ヽ( ̄д ̄;)ノ But I did it. I succeeded in inserting those softy, jelly-like creepy objects to my iris lol image The blue isn’t that obvious though, probably because I have dark brown-to-black iris image I wanted the grey but grey color was worse; it made me look like I wear no lens, only that my eyes are evolving like that of an alien’s. This lens has good comfort though, I admit, but I’ll probably try another brand in the future because I want to wear one with brighter color(s).

I still have a hard time with my left eye, though. I wonder why it’s a lot more difficult to put in/take out the left one, sigh. Oh well, adaptation takes time right…

Moving on, I bought myself the product everyone has been screaming in excitement about:

BB cream and anti-blemish solutions from CLINIQUE image

Honestly, this is my first BB cream. Before, I never cared about it until I see how “unclean” my face is. I still think foundation or primer before make up is too much of a work but I can’t help it. When I see my face after applying the eyeliner and mascara, I feel like sighing because wow, acne! image Hence, I asked for a BB cream. I know, I know, there are thousands of better BB creams out there – Lioele, Etude House, etc etc and I’ve heard the Korean ones being better than Western brands’… Unfortunately, the mall I went to yesterday has no Etude House or Lioele or Skin Food. Yes, I was planning to buy the one from Skin Food. Hm, oh well.. It’s not like Clinique’s horrible, right. My friend told me Maybelline’s one is bad, especially for oily skin so it’s better to pick other brand(s) instead. I do want to try Tony Moly’s though.

MAC’s pro longwear “NEXT FAD” lipglass, anyone?

I’ve always loved MAC’s stuff ever since I purchased their macroviolet gel liner image I’m probably biased by now, lol and I’m drugging my mother to purchase MAC instead of others like Shiseido or Kanebo …I’m such a good kid, ain’t I. Truth be told, the lip gloss I originally wanted is Tsubasa Masuwaka’s Candydoll’s:

lipgloss-and-lips-ad

This country though, sadly, has no Candydoll. Everywhere I look, there’s only Dollywink (`_´)ゞI have to learn how to use false lashes though because I’m curious about Dollywink’s lashes. Its mascara and liquid eyeliner, though, work nicely. They’re expensive yeah but they work nicely. And since Candydoll’s nowhere to be found in this country, I end up buying MAC’s lip glass. As for the reason why I picked pink, well…. pink is gyaru’s favorite color so.. image Besides, just because it’s not my favorite color doesn’t mean I think pink is out of the option. My friends get dramatically shocked when they know I do this kind of stuff – eyeliner and such which I don’t get why. You can’t expect me to not learn how to dress good in public til I’m over twenty now, can you- I can’t go to a job interview looking like a boy still in his baggy pants and filthy shirt, right image Whatever my “friend(s)” say, whatever.

Anyway, whew. This entry is getting really lengthy! image I’m sorry if you’re getting bored of my rambling crap. I have to end this post soon BUT before that, let me tell you something:

Star Trek Into Darkness is amazing. Thank you, J.J.Abrams. IMDB rates it 8.4/10 and although I’ve stopped believing in IMDB, I have to agree with this remark regarding Star Trek’s sequel. Rotten Tomato gave a positive review for it too and I’m just that happy. This year, we get sequel(s) such as Iron Man and others but Star Trek’s sequel is, by far, the most enjoyable. I’d love to re-watch it, yes please. Not to mention, I love love Vulcans and their humor lol image

Now, to end this really boring post, here’s a small reference:
